Julia Guettler is a senior studio art major concentrating in sculpture at University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is primarily works and lives in Minneapolis, MN and Menomonie, WI.

Statement of Intent:

My work exhibits my belief that art history, pop culture, and fashion are synonymous. Riley Whitney, Sylvie Fleury, and Vanessa Beecroft are three female contemporaries who speak of this interchangeable relationship. The alluring qualities of the female form are used throughout the commercial seduction of luxury consumerism. I appropriated this use stylistically in my For… series of vajazzles paralleling high art and high fashion. In our postmodern culture the idea of feminism has become antiquated. My work aims to contextualize the female form through my generational perspective.
